Science Matters runs six programs per school year. Each year programs are different and cover different topics. Our clubs combine fun and science by incorporating teacher demonstrations and hands on activities in a fun, science filled classroom. Each week, students also complete a take home project that reinforces the science concept being taught. Programs include Science Sampler, Slime Time, Magical Mixtures, Invention Lab, Blinded by the Light, and Earth’s Mysteries. You can read about the classes below and find your school by selecting its region below!

Prepare yourself for more science, more fun and more eye-popping experiments! Experience the many areas of science with this sampling of our club themes. Discover the wonder of bubbles by making a bubblelarium, create secret messages on papyrus paper using hieroglyphics, simulate a real avalanche and make a clucking cup to amplify sound.

Become an Egyptologist as we explore the fascinating world of ancient Egypt. Build your own pyramid, make a sundial to tell time by the sun, create your own mummy, build a model of a shaduf…and much more!

You’ve traveled into the lab of Professor Plasma and realize he’s set traps to keep you from leaving. Escaping won’t be easy, as the professor was diabolical and left one trap after another. To succeed, you’ll have to be one step ahead. Use your scientific knowledge to solve puzzles and complete experiments in order to uncover clues that will lead you to finding your way out. Join us in this thrilling adventure to see if you can outsmart the mad professor!
Join us in the lab as we mix up some chemistry fun! Make your own monster bath poppers, experiment with a gas that’s heavier than air, launch film canister rockets, create a bubbly CO2 fountain, and whip up a frozen ice cream treat to enjoy.
Have you ever seen golf ball–sized hail? Watched a lightning bolt slam into a tree and burn it to the ground? Sound scary? Not if you are prepared! You, the meteorologist, will create and use your own weather station to predict changes in the weather. Construct a barometer to track air pressure changes, simulate a weather front, calculate wind speeds and make a tornado in a bottle. The forecast is all fun!
We’ll keep the good vibrations coming as we investigate the invisible world of sound energy. Make musical instruments, identify mystery sounds, experiment with echolocation, use vibrations to make water jump, and more! Can you hear me now?
